Palm trees a type of plants, which have many variety and these are well growing plants, there have some types of soft plants and some hard palm plants. Palms are one of the best known and most widely planted tree families. They play important role for humans. Many common products and foods come from palms. Palms are often used in parks and gardens. In the past palms were symbols of victory, peace and fertility. Today palms are a popular symbol for the  tropics and for vacations. Palm tree grow in hot climates and are of two types i.e. Date palm and Coconut palm. 














There are about 2600 species of palm trees, most of them living in tropical, subtropical and warm temperate climates. Most palms are a straight, unbranched stem. Palms have large evergreen leaves that are either ‘fan-leaved’ or ‘feather-leaved’ and arranged in a spiral at the top of the trunk. Palms are in danger of dying out because of human activity. The greatest dangers are from increasingly large cities, mining and turning forests into farmland. Palm plants are indoor plants and it helps to decorate your home or resort.












Palm farming and use – apart from the well-known coconut and date, there are other kinds of food from palms. Palm oil, Sago, heart of palm and palm wine are all eaten or drunk in different parts of the world. Palm oil is used in everything, from cosmetics to food ingredients. Coir is a coarse, water-resistant fibre from the outer shell of coconuts, used in doormats, brushes, mattresses and ropes.















The palm, especially the coconut, remains a symbol of tropical island paradise, the palm tree also represents Oasis.
Indoor palm trees – are slow growing and stay smaller when grown in containers, making them ideal house plants. 1. European Fan Palm., 2. Parlor palm., 3. Pygmy Date Palm.,4. Sago Palm., 5. Kentia Palm.
Over  the past several hundred years, palms have been quite popular as house plants.
  1. Edible fruit producing types of palm trees – coconut, pindo, Banana, canary island, oil, date, saw palmetto, pygmy date and Chilean wine palm.
  2. Types of palm trees for containers – Fishtail, Dwarf palmetto, Pygmy date, Bottle, King sago, Areca or butterfly, lady palms, Triangle, Christmas, Banana, Ruffled Fan plam, Majesty palm, Thatch palms, Old Man palm.

Palm tree uses – Coconut as fruit, Leaves make great roofs and produce different kind of oil and wax, leaves are eaten by the animals, Wood palm tree uses, for excellent flooring and siding. Wax for scented candles, sealing wax and palm heart.
